Beautynthebaby| Weeks 35-38: Nesting Season

Hey Beauties!

The end is near...I hope.... Thank you sweet baby Jesus because I am so tired of being pregnant. Sometimes I look at my belly and think I will miss this BUT then I start walking and feel like I just got kicked and my vagina and that thought rapidly dissolves. The pressure.....
So much has happened in the last few weeks as we are getting ready for the arrival of Princess Gabrielle! I have been insanely busy and was thinking that there was no end in sight...but I am happy to report I have finally come to a place where I can actually take some time to just..dare I say...RELAX..a little...I actually have a hard time doing that.  Before I get to that I will tell you guys what's been going on.

I had my baby shower a couple of weeks ago, yes it was a bit late...March 1st and a month before my due date but hey I wasn't planning it! My mom actually did most of the planning with the help of my mother-in-law and my best friend. It was really nice and I was so grateful for the turnout and all of the love in the room to celebrate our little. We got some great gifts too and a lot of adorable clothes! We decided to do a co-ed shower since my hubby's super supportive friends wanted to be included. I will post some pictures below!

Next up, weekly doctor's appointments. Those started for me at week 35- they pretty much do the same thing as the earlier appointments- vitals check, baby's heart beat, belly measurements, and the occasional shot or blood draw.  At week 36 they do a Group B Strep test...I never heard of that so I really did want to share. Basically they take a vaginal/rectal swab and test it for this bacteria...yes...strep in your vag.... apparently anyone can just carry it but it can cause major problems for the baby if they pass through it so they need to know if you have it so they can give you antibiotics when you go in to labor. The end....
My week 37 appointment gave me a bit of a scare, my blood pressure was sky high out of nowhere. Enough to cause some concern since mine is always perfection...what?!? I'm not bragging....this spike in my blood pressure cost me a 24 hour urine collection...yup I had to bring a cooler to carry a container that I had to collect pee in all day long to work! Good thing I work in research at a hospital...it didn't spark any questions. They test the urine for protein...which is an indicator of preclampsia. When my doctor told me my blood pressure was high and that I needed to pee in the container, I'm not going to lie, I cried! I was just so upset thinking that I possibly did something wrong to cause me to get preclampsia and now my baby was at risk. Even though she made it clear that there is nothing that I could do to cause it, I just felt so guilty. THANKFULLY, my blood pressure came back down and my pee was negative for protein and aside from swollen feet I wasn't showing any other symptoms of preclampsia. God is good, and the talk about possible induction went away.
My doctor did tell me that I need to take it easy and actually wrote me a note to work from home more. So that's what I am currently trying to do- take it easy and I am working from home twice a week. Which has been great- less time in the car  and less time on my Fred Flinstone feet! Needless to say- I stopped working out a couple of weeks ago because of this.

Symptoms

I have accepted the fact that I will never escape heartburn this pregnancy, I know a little late to accept it, but I always had hopes that it would stop. It's actually worse. Did you know tomatoes can cause heartburn?!? Basically, most things give me heartburn and almost all fruits taste like acid! BLEH!

Not so sure that I can call this a symptom but it is....I guess....nesting! Now for those of you who know me, I mean really know me, you already know that I can be a bit high strung especially when it comes to cleaning and organizing. So, I actually enjoy nesting and it was the perfect excuse to do an intense spring cleaning in my home. You know who doesn't like nesting?!? My husband lol because I needed his help cleaning obvi and also because I was throwing everything away! While he did the heavy cleaning (bathrooms, kitchen, mopping) I was organizing cabinets, closets, drawers, and pretty much anything I could think of. I must say once that was done, my blood pressure went down lol I'm not kidding! Now I feel like my house is in the best shape and is ready for baby girl...she just needs to get here before her dad messes it up again! BONUS: Her nursery is pretty much finished as well, I've got a few more decor things happening but other than that...next project is my vanity room!!

Body aches and pressure are my most recent symptom and they are really making life quit uncomfortable. Everyone kept saying, wait till you get to 38 weeks and like clock work at 38 weeks i began to waddle. I thought waddling was caused by some type of balance thing but it's really caused by the fact that baby's head is so deep in your pelvis it's like you've been riding a horse. My whole seat is so sore as if I had an intense cycling class...and when I told my doctor she said....that's normal! Like every other weird thing that happens during pregnancy, it's normal. I'm actually concerned about this because the longer she stays in the more likely I will be unable to walk soon! It's that uncomfortable!

Last but not least, I'll quickly talk sleep which for me has been inconsistent, I am either exhausted or suffering insomnia on any given night. But I guess I am still getting more than I will be once the little one arrives so I won't complain!

Cravings

Um, healthy food is totally unappealing as this stage in the game. I plan and force myself to get my veggies in. I don't know if it's a I'm at the end and I earned this or what but I have ice cream regularly....but only after I eat my celery sticks lol! I am dying to send my husband on a craving run because I've yet to do that...maybe this weekend!

BumpWatch

I forgot to get a pic for 37 weeks...I feel lucky I've gotten this many lol anyways as you can see the bump is HUGE and we are still going....I turned 39 weeks today and I am one week away from my due date. So this may be my last update until after the baby!!!

What's in my hospital bag?!

Hey Beauties!

This week I am sharing What's in my hospital bag!? I am 37 weeks pregnant and we are full term baby! So, it can be any time now...I have no idea when's she's going to come but we are ready for her when she does.

Sorry, I have been lacking on posts and videos but I am sure you guys understand- I've been really busy with baby stuff in my spare time and I am still working full time :) Which is a blessing in my opinion because I've been doing well enough to do that!

Anyways- I really was stressing over getting my bag together- should I bring this? Will I need that?! Is this too much?!!? After watching other people's videos, checking checklists on my app, and talking to friends who delivered in the same hospital I felt I had a better idea about what was necessary for us, so I wanted to share with you guys!! I hope this is helpful!

Beautynthebaby| Maternity Photos + Baby Name Reveal

Untitled

Hey Beauties!

Last weekend my husband and I met up with his friend and awesome photographer Jason Rene to capture some beautiful maternity shots. We were so happy with how everything turned out. Jason did a great job collaborating with me about what type of pictures we wanted- while also bringing his own originality to the photos. We got a ton of great shots- so I wanted to share some of them with you all!
We also wanted to share the baby's name- which you will find on the video below <3 We really fell in love with the name but for some reason we were leaving an open mind so we were waiting to share  but at this point we call her this all the time and it just fits!

For more pics....keep scrolling...

Beautynthebaby | Week 29 & 30 - Failed Glucose Test....

These last couple of weeks have been super busy and I have started becoming super tired!
I am now on a bi-weekly appointment schedule and at my last appointment I had to take the initial glucose test- which I failed by 1 STINKING POINT! I was like really?!? You couldn't have suggested that I skip out on my orange juice that morning. Anyways, I had to go back the following week (in between my appointments) and take a 3 HOUR glucose test! Which was HORRIBLE! Pretty much a 3 hour torture session. I had to drink that flat orange soda flavored sugar drink-which was way worse than the first one- and I had to get 4 blood draws. I seriously was on the verge of vomitting an hour into the test, I did everything in my power not to. The nurse must have noticed, because she came over to tell me she was watching me and if I did throw up I would have to come back another day and re-take it. I was the drink and 2 blood draws in so I was not about to have that. Anyway- I got my results today and they came back negative!! YAY!!!

I also got some administrative stuff out of the way- I ordered my breast pump through my insurance, we are touring the hospital at the end of the month, the maternity shoot is scheduled for Feb 9th,  baby shower plans are under way ( I am not throwing it but I am there to help with input when asked), and we have appointments to meet some pediatricians for baby. Sigh, I love being productive! My list is getting shorter!

We are making a lot of progress in the baby gear/roomdepartment as well- and I am SO happy about that. I am such a control freak and once I have something on my to do list I cannot be satisfied until I can scratch it of. LOL that is a secret joy of mine. Travel system- check, bassinet- check, changing table-check, crib ordered-check, room painted-check....making me a very happy mommy to be to have some of this stuff out of the way. We still need quite a few more things though..

This past weekend I got together with my mom and her bestie to get some of our DIY projects done. They all came out exactly how I pictured and I am more than pleased with them. Thank goodness my mom is frickin Marth Stewart and lives for this stuff because she's been a huge help.  I filmed and took pics so I will be posting those if you are interested in some How To's - they were pretty easy. I will give you guys a sneak peek at the projects down below. We worked on glitter vases using 2 methods (the silver ones are actually for my vanity room), frames for the frame wall (duh),glitter  letters for her name, and we assembled some of the tissue poms I ordered from Etsy.  Next on our list, Tutu crib skirt!!
Untitled

Speaking of Etsy, BOY have I been racking up on there! I have ordered headbands, a tutu, and some stuff to decorate in her room. It's very addicting..however after I receive things and give them a good look over I am sure I could have made them myself. LOL not that they are poor quality or anything but super challenging they are not!

Symptoms

I am truly starting to feel the discomforts of pregnancy- while they are bearable- I still have about 2 more months and I know they will get worse. I am finally starting to get hit with exhaustion, but I am not sure if it's from getting tired easier or the fact that I get NO sleep most nights! I will be so tired all day, then all of a sudden I cannot fall asleep at night. It's really annoying actually- not to mention once I finally get into a good sleep I just have to get up to pee. Overall, getting comfortable is task that has been affecting my sleep as well. I've been trying a lot of different pillow arrangements because my pregnancy pillow isn't getting it anymore. I still use it, but I have added 2 pillows to the mix...it's actually like a complicated science.
Indigestion has been my biggest enemy this trimester. I can't dodge it- I just sleep with tums bedside. Which reminds me, I need to re-up.  At my last doctor's appointment they told me I was anemic and I will be adding iron pills to my regimen....not looking forward to the possibility of constipation. Hopefully, I can avoid that one!

Bump Watch

I've been getting a lot of mixed opinions on my bump- not to mention some unwelcome opinions lol. Everything from "You're about to pop" to "You're small for 30 weeks"...I am like so which is it?!? I always welcome the comments about me being small lol but I think it is a little rude to ask a pregnant woman how much weight she's gained or to make her feel like she is huge! We already feel that way ok, and even if that its your perception maybe you should keep it to yourself because it's not going to change anything. End Rant.

I haven't been getting out much so I don't have any OOTD fun pics. I get dolled up for videos but that's it and I have pajama pants on during those lol.  But I included an ever so rare bare belly pic!

Beautynthebaby| 2nd Trimester Update

Hey Beauties,

I am officially in my third trimester!! Yay, I cannot wait to meet my little princess! I have been on a major baby kick lately too. Like I just want to have everything and have everything ready for my wittle one. Here is the update on how my 2nd trimester went! It was a great one I must say- but nothing feels better than being this much closer to holding The Glam Baby Graham! LOL that' s our nickname for her right now because my grandma says that's her glam baby! SO CUTE!! I've been getting asked about the names, and we do have one but we are kind of still in indecisive so that's why I haven't shared but once we have a solid full name I will tell you guys all about it! Picking the baby's name was NOT an easy task for us. I'll say that much!

Beautynthebaby| Week 26 & 27 - Leaking Boobies?!?

These past 2 weeks flew, I am pretty sure it is all of the holiday hustle and bustle, but that has finally come to an end. Baby girl got some gifts for Christmas this year already! She is going to be super spoiled. She's our first obviously- but she's also my parents first grandchild and my husband has a niece but she's 24...so pretty much she's a first for us all! There hasn't been any babies around in such a long time. This baby girl has been on the go lately and is moving around most of the day. I am so happy about that. Sometimes she kicks or punches so hard that it shocks me a bit.

Next week is the big week! The third trimester and I must say that it has really put a fire under my ass because now I feel like we have so much ground to cover. I am pretty confident that I will carry full term, but you never know. SO, I have been feeling the need to make sure everything is done by mid February just in case this little one wants to make an early cameo. I haven't really had any indications of pre-term labor risks but I am a huge planner and the fact that this is totally out of my control is kind of making me a little anxious.

I haven't been able to work out as much with the holidays but I plan to get back on track with that. I may have skipped a gym day or 2 these past couple of weeks. I don't want to just stop going so I really am making the effort to keep my schedule. I have a workout buddy now from work and that has been helpful. She's not pregnant but we work out twice a week at the gym at our job. This has been so great for me because I can go right from work- no extra stop and I finish earlier then I do when I drive to the gym in traffic. Then I've been going to my gym the other day. I needed the extra motivation.

In other news- we have our hospital tour scheduled for January 30th!! It's getting realer by the day!

Symptoms & Cravings

All I want to eat is oreos and pizza lol. That would be living the dream if I could actually do that. I really feel like for the most part my cravings have tapered off though. It's been so much easier for me to make healthier choices lately and I think more about what I am giving to the baby.  There isn't anything that I must have right now or I will hurt someone. I wonder if that will change as I get into the 3rd trimester.

Symptoms wise it's been the same with mostly indigestion and that kind of thing. Sleeping has been somewhat of a huge adjustment and I really wish I could get that under control. I can't fall asleep, it takes forever to get comfortable, my indigestion is really bad at night, and I all together just can't move as quickly so switching from side to side is like a major workout. My pregnancy pillow isn't even as helpful anymore- I am guessing it's still better then not having one but I remember when I first got it feeling like I was on cloud 9 and sleeping so great! Now, it takes me a long time to get comfortable in it.

I also feel like I may have developed some sort of breathing problem while sleeping. My husband said it's called snoring. LOL I actually don't think that's it. I often wake myself up out of my sleep with what I guess is a snore but I feel like is me gasping for a big breathe. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it but I am sure they are just going to say that's normal....like every other weird pregnancy symptom....it's normal!

And then of course there is my leaking boobs! I am like is this normal?!? Them leaking so early?! I am hoping that this means I will have a good supply and not that my baby will be here too soon. I don't even know if that means any of that...also a good question for the doctor I guess.

BumpWatch

I'm starting to feel like a whale and like it's harder to look cute these days lol. But as long as my baby is healthy I am ok with that- and she is definitely growing. Check out the bumps for week 26 and 27!

Beautynthebaby| Week 24 & 25- What is that?!?!

These last couple have weeks have been flying- I guess we've just been so busy with the holidays and preparations for that. It was kind of a blur to be honest. That and the fact that my pregnancy brain is in full effect and I can't even remember what I wanted to blog about lol. The drawback to doing these biweekly- I need to start taking notes. Let me think...well I am now just a couple weeks away from my 3rd trimester!! SO crazy- I can't even believe that we will be seeing our little angel in 3 months! We're are getting her room going and my mom and I are getting started on some DIY projects. I will probably be taking some pictures and filming some of those to share with you all on here. I am pretty excited about that!

Since we are nearing closer to the final stretch- I had my husband watch a delivery video on YouTube, I picked one that wasn't terrifying to ease him in. Which I am now thinking was a bad idea because after he said that wasn't so bad...how bad can contractions really be?! LOL not the idea I wanted him to get....that this was going to be a walk in the park for me. Meanwhile, I was looking through the videos horrified and like "WHAT IS THAT?!?!"Oh well, I won't hold back next time!
Also, my little munchkin has been kicking and moving a WHOLE lot. Especially in church on Sundays. That's her most active day of the week. My husband can feel it now and not only can we see her little kicks and jabs- we've been able to actually see her move. Which is so strange but amazing at the same time. I just sit back and watch the show at night!
I've still been working out- I am just finding that I am sore for much longer and it works better for me if I go every other day- instead of back to back days. I am really slacking, but I need to get into yoga- ASAP!

Symptoms & Cravings

Let's see, what I have I been craving. Sweets....and more sweets. Horrible I know- but it is the holidays so they are everywhere! I promise to do better after the New Year! I have noticed that I have been getting a lot more lactose induced nausea though. Which explains my lack of interest in cereal and ice cream. It just hasn't been settling well.

All of my recent symptoms have been food related too! I have had indigestion and horrible gas (in the burp form) like non stop burping. It's just so not cute- but most of the time I can't even control it. It just comes out mid-sentence literally. I am also not sure if I am having indigestion or reflux- because most of the time when I eat- I won't even be feel full- but I feel like I am about to puke up my food or something. It's been really annoying. Especially in the evening when I am not moving around as much.

Sleep....who needs it....lol I guess I don't because I haven't been able to fall asleep like I used to. I am still grateful for my pillow because I do get a comfortable rest when I do fall asleep. But I have been finding myself up late most nights. I read in one of my pregnancy books that moms to be get insomnia and that it could be their bodies getting prepped for those sleepless nights with baby. I don't know...sounds legit.

I have also been noticing the swelling more regularly. My feet for sure- almost every evening. My husband rubs them for me- so that's been nice.

BumpWatch

I am getting HUGE! Lol I have lots of pics this week. We will call it my maternity week in fashion ok! I've almost fully converted over to dresses, skirts, and maternity pants. None of my dresses are maternity, but my non maternity pants are so uncomfortable under my belly. I'll wear them but I really prefer no to. Also, at 6  months I am finding that shirts aren't long enough anymore and I need new workout clothes!

Beautynthebaby | Week 20 & 21 -The GLAMbaby....

Just an FYI- I am actually 22 weeks- I write this after the week closes...just in case that wasn't evident. I thought of it because I watch update videos and they are usually filmed on the actual week...random and no one cares but I thought I'd clarify.

On week 19, we finally got to share the gender with our families and with all of you the following week! They all got their cards and loved them. Super excited that I am having a girl- my grandmother affectionately calls her her GLAMbaby.  So cute, I love it!

I always knew that- one night I had a dream about my aunt that just passed and I had this feeling that I was having a girl! I woke up and told my husband-it's a girl, I feel it. But I didn't want to bank on that feeling and with everyone telling me it was a boy, so when I found out it took a while for it to sink in that it was actually a girl. I just cannot wait for her to get here!!

I definitely feel a greater connection with her, like I knew I would. Not only is it because we know a little more about the munchkin- but she's getting bigger and stronger and I can feel her so much! It is really the greatest feeling ever and it instantly puts a smile on my face.

Something else that has been putting a smile on my face- SHOPPING!! I can finally get stuff knowing that it's a girl! I am starting a little collection- in addition to the huge collection my mom has already accumulated (first grand baby = spoiled rotten). Every morning when I see her little onsies or shoes I just cannot help but touch them and imagine them filled with her little tiny body! Ok, I'll stop being so mushy! LOL I guess it's one of those hormonal days!

Anyways, I have still been keeping up with my workouts and I have noticed that my body starts getting a little more resistant after a while- like after I am on the elliptical for 30 minutes my sides cramp a bit. I just listen to my body and switch machines.

In other news, I've been trying to get my head around birthing and have been really wanting to get more knowledge about labor, delivery, and breastfeeding. Not that I didn't want to know that before and I still do have like 4 1/2 months but before I definitely felt like it was too soon. Now I feel like I am ready to explore. In January my husband and I are planning on taking some classes and we will be going on our hospital tour late January. I am confident that I will carry full term, but you never know and I don't want to wait too last minute to prepare for things.

I recently watched the movie " The Business of Being Born" and "More of the Business of Being Born," this movie scared me but it was definitely food for thought and I am glad I watched it. They made a lot of valid points and it doesn't hurt to have as much knowledge and perspectives about all of your options.  I do recommend it for mom's, new definitely!

Symptoms & Cravings

I have been having some serious gas, and I can't say that I am enjoying that. Sometimes it is so painful- like I haven't experienced. Also, burping mid sentence isn't exactly endearing... Blame the bump..I have also been retaining water a bit- I talked to my doctor about it and she did confirm that. I don't feel like I am super swollen, think Kim Kardashian, but I have noticed swelling in my feet, indention all over my body from clothing or anything touching it, and it's increased my weight a bit. I've got to take some responsibility for that though because my doctor was asking about my diet and and the foods that I crave are high in sodium! Soups, sandwiches (sandwich meat), Lean Cuisine pizzas... so I am going to make a bigger effort to watch that intake. I also am going to give up on my sugary cereals. I haven't been craving them as much so I think I am ok with that. My latest craving that I have yet to indulge is Oreo Cheesecake....OMG I am dying for some. I think I will let myself have a few oreos and milk instead and see if that kills it!

BumpWatch

I am still fascinated at how different my bump looks from week to week. It's not just a progression like you would think. Sometimes it looks smaller then the week before. It must be the water retention... who knows.... I am measuring a week behind- but my doctor said that's ok and we are on target!!

Beautynthebaby|Gender Reveal Photos

Untitled

Hey Beauties!

About 3 weeks ago, we had my bestie Aleysha come over and do some simple gender reveal photos for us so that we could share the sex of the baby with our family in a fun way. I would have LOVED to throw a party, but pretty much my entire family lives in Massachusetts and and my husbands family is smaller and spread out all over the place.

For weeks I looked on Pinterest getting ideas for the photo shoot, there were sooo many cute and creative ideas on there. Honestly, since baby, Pinterest has been my guilty pleasure- especially for the baby room design.

I had some that I really loved, I'll show them below- but I knew that they were going to be a little more involved and prying my husband away from the TV during Sunday football was not going to be easy.
So, my final decision was to make it as easy and painless as possible and focus on the baby shoes. My husband for the win.....I was happy with the results!

Anyways, here are the photos from the shoot!!

Fall Fashion: Neons

Untitled

Hey Beauties!

I have been on a fashion high lately- mainly because finding outfits that are bump friendly without compromising my personal style has been important me. Stretching my non-maternity clothes takes a lot of creativity.. and with the help of my new Pinterest, I have been feeding my addiction.
Neons are still trending for fall this year- which I am loving because it's a nice way to work some color into my otherwise dark fall wardrobe -and it looks very chic and modern in my opinion! Neon yellow happens to be my fave- if you can't already tell! Here is how I incorporate my neon accessories into my wardrobe while also styling the bump!

Neons & Stripes

The perfect outfit for a girls night or dinner date! Fall in Georgia is not exactly cold- so this dress is totally fall appropriate! I love stripes all year long and I love how neon looks with the pattern in black and white.
